Hello,
I have an Asus Maximus VIII Hero motherboard, I’m not sure if Asus has written the wording on their website incorrectly, but I was always under the assumption when you wrote, ‘Intel Management Engine Interface’ this meant having that Minix system in your box?
When I downloaded the drivers off the site the Zip stated; ConsumerME11.7.0.1014_RS2_20170718
To me Consumer meant only the drivers, even as how plutomaniac explains it on this post;
Intel Management Engine: Drivers, Firmware & System Tools
A1. Intel MEI Driver Only
That these drivers listed under A1. is the same as what I have installed?
Here’s the contents of what I have inside the directories;
/ConsumerME11.7.0.1014_RS2_20170718 $ ls
AsusSetup.exe AsusSetup.ini Hotfix_X64 Hotfix_X86 Install
/Hotfix_X64 $ ls
AsusSetup.exe AsusSetup.ini KB2685811
/Install $ ls
AsusSetup32.ini AsusSetup.exe English.ini German.ini Japanese.ini Log.txt Russian.ini SetupME.exe Tchinese.ini
AsusSetup64.ini AsusSetup.ini French.ini IntelMEFWVer.dll Korean.ini mup.xml Schinese.ini Spanish.ini
So my question is, in the control panel it says, ‘Intel Management Engine Components’, so I’m assuming this is only the driver(s) installed?
When I want to update the ‘Intel Management Engine Components’ driver(s), is it ok to just grab the latest one and install over the old version installed?
Thanks
Yes these are only drivers, specifically MEI-Only Installer. To update manually via Device Manager you should uninstall the old MEI-Only Installer first.
Hi plutomaniac,
Well this comes as an installer .exe, so I’ll just uninstall first from the control panel, then install the new version.
By the way have you ever seen the Revo Uninstaller?
https://www.revouninstaller.com/
I’d like to think I’m a bit of a Geek, LOL, but from what I can see Revo does a really nice job of making sure everything gets removed, especially registry entries, so I’d personally run it to uninstall ME, just wondering if you knew much about it?
By the way, on another subject, somewhat close, my BIOS is 11.6.10.1196, so if I updated ME versions for Windows 7, does that mean I need to stick to 11.6x only?
Versions on the system have to match versions in the BIOS? 11.6 System = 11.6 BIOS > 11.7 System = 11.7 BIOS, etc…?
Thanks
