What Is This Asus Security Update Put Out For ME?

Hi,

There seems to be panic going on with the Asus ROG Forum over the latest release for the Maximus VIII Hero motherboard ME update;

You’ll see under the BIOS section it mention this;

Intel has identified security issue that could potentially place impacted platform at risk. Use ME Update tool to update your ME.
*We suggest you update ME Driver to the latest Version 11.7.0.1040 simultaneously.

Does anyone know what this security issue is? I personally don’t like jumping on updates that don’t tell us anything…

Well I’d say, not to jump at speculations LOL…

The vulnerability has not been disclosed by Intel yet (probably on Monday, November 20th) but it is the biggest on Intel ME since the beginning in 2006. It’s a big deal actually. Basically this.
