AHCI & RAID Option ROM Modules

@sazan123 :
The needed BIOS modding tool and the procedure depends on the platform/architecture of the related BIOS. For details please look into the start post of >this< thread.

I also have a Sony VPCZ1, and I had unlock the advanced menu. New can select the IDE/AHCI/RAID.

hello, there is a new version for rste from supermicro board…
v6.1.0.1017
https://1drv.ms/u/s!AvA1navurakAh8QCBnN_ZPqTCMf25A

@storaid

There should still be 2 files:
- VROC with VMD
- VMDD (Volume Management Device Driver)

@SoniX
you mean these???

Yes.

Added:

VROC_VMD_117828F1-DA7D-4BC1-8B58-9A954FED5121.efi –> VMDVROC_1.efi
VMDD_217828C1-DA75-5BC1-7B58-91954FED0101.efi –> VMDVROC_2.efi

@storaid :
Welcome to the Win-RAID Forum and thanks for having uploaded and attached the latest Intel RSTe RAID ROM and EFI RaidDriver modules v6.1.0.1017.

@ all:
Update of the Start post
Changelog:

  • new: Intel RSTe RAID ROM v6.1.0.1017 for DEV_2826 Intel SATA RAID Controllers
  • new: Intel RSTe RAID ROM v6.1.0.1017 for DEV_2827 Intel sSATA RAID Controllers
  • Thanks to storaid for the source files.
    These BIOS modules are designed for the upcoming RSTe v6.1.x.xxxx series Intel RSTe drivers. I do not really recommend to insert them into the BIOS unless the Intel RSTe RAID drivers v6.1.x.xxxx are available.

Regards
Dieter (alias Fernando)

@SoniX :
The SetDevID tool obviously doesn’t support the DeviceID customization of Intel AHCI OROM modules. I get the message “unknown OROM”.
It would be fine, if you could add the support.
Within the start post of >this< thread I am offering the latest Intel AHCI OROM modules v1.20E and v2.00h.
Thanks in advance!

17.5.0.4055_RaidOrom

@ all:
Update of the Start post
Changelog:

  • new: Intel RST RAID ROM v17.5.0.4136 for DEV_2822 Intel RAID Controllers
  • Thanks to killkernel for the source BIOS.
    This BIOS module has been designed for Intel 300-Series Chipset systems. Maybe it will work with Intel 100-/200-Series chipset systems as well.

Dieter (alias Fernando)

@Fernando
Intel RST RAID EFI Driver / OROM v17.5.0.4136 actually works at my Intel HM170 platform.

@Breakshadow :
Thanks for your report!
I assume, that you have created an Intel RAID array (which sort?) and still have access to the Intel RST RAID Utility by hitting Ctrl+I while booting.

@Fernando
Ummmmmm… I did not have an Intel RAID array, is that means that none whatsoever these EFI Drivers / OROMs is related to my laptop?
Also I don’t have access to the RAID Utility from the start when I using my laptop. It has the EFI Driver / OROM at v14 but in BIOS there is only AHCI to choose.
Did I report the wrong information? If it is, sorry for this.

@Breakshadow :
Thanks for the clarification.
Only users, whose Intel SATA Controller is running in RAID mode, can verify, whether a certain Intel RAID BIOS module (EFI RaidDriver or RAID OROM) works with their system or not.
For all other users an update of the Intel RAID BIOS module(s) has no effect, because they will neither be loaded nor used by the system.

@Fernando
In your thread :

But i see, there is another version : RAID ROM v13.5.0.2164
It is a better choice for 9-Series Chipset RAID than v13.2.2.2224 ?

Thank you very much

@Dams7 :
The choice of the best matching Intel RAID BIOS module depends on the version of the best performing Intel RAID driver.
Since the latest and according to my various benchmark comparison tests best performing v13 platform Intel RST RAID driver is v13.2.8.1002, I recommend to put the matching Intel RAID ROM v13.2.2.2224 into the BIOS.
