@avd - Thanks, and yes I missed you mentioned all that in your original post and the one following it (204), I assumed you purchased the BIOS via that ebay sellers dance, and didn’t notice you mentioned anything about simply replacing SECCore and adding ucode.
So the new BIOS you added, is this stock BIOS downloaded from Asus and you simply replaced SECCore and added ucode, or did you modying the dump you provided previously per the comments above?
If it’s the later there, I’d prefer not suggesting users use that with flashback, the required two simple changes should be done on a stock BIOS only, that way nothing else is added or missed in your dump editing.
Great you figured all this out. How did you learn about the SECCore change being the key part to allow this to work?
I tried inserting ucodes previously, but that was way back when this first started, and I think BIOS 3501 was only latest one then. I guess we should have kept trying as new BIOS came out
Pretty cat you have!
@malucul @mitdal369 @levelud @maxdata @myio @Branen @Onyxx1606 @Moomoo @Kaboooom2000uk @Onyxx1606 @dahuoxia @TechStream
Here is 5503 ES mod flashback ready (built from stock BIOS) with 50650, 50651, 50652, 50653, 50654 - all 2017 ucodes, Plus stock 55, 56, 57 - maybe this will cover all the ES types now!
@Lost_N_BIOS Confirmed working on my machine. I used the programmer to go back to my original backup image from when the board was new, then used Flashback to apply your image. Seems fine so far. I did NOT have to put my retail chips back in for the flashing process.
@TechStream Which waterblocks are you using, out of interest? The only one I was able to find was the one EKWB make. They weren’t cheap
@malucul - Thanks for quick report back on that test, and thanks for taking the time to check it out for us
Flashback should work without any CPU installed at all, that’s why it was created, so you shouldn’t ever have to switch CPU’s out unless you are testing something specific.
Now we need some test with other ES 50650, 50651, 50653, 50654
Big thanks again to @avd too
he’s meaning those blocks and i am waiting for my chips and the case to build my rig
@levelud Thats the ones!!!
I have the Anidees AI XL case aswell which fits the C621e with acres of space to spare!!.
Just to confirm @malucul
You stuck Losts latest bios as a CAP file on a usb and used the USB flashback with ES chips installed no issues…
@TechStream yep, that’s what happened
A bit late for me with the cheaper waterblocks, I’ve had the EKWB ones for a while. I’ll keep the others in mind if I end up building another of these though (which may well happen - the performance per dollar spent on the ES chips works out pretty nicely now that they work!)
@avd and @Lost_N_BIOS
Ill be doing a video about my build for my YouTube channel, is it ok to give you pair credit for all the work you have done in making this happen.
@TechStream - Sure, thanks! Did you try the file I made as well? I was hoping someone with some of the other ES/QS CPU’s (not B0, or not 50652) would pop in to do some testing.
I’m pretty sure there’s been a few other than B0 CPU’s mentioned as not working in this thread, but I didn’t look back again and really don’t know what CPU’s are what when someone just mentions a model name.
Do you know who those users were, or could you guys browse through the thread and see if you can spot them so we can tag again? And, do you have any other CPU’s you can test?
The extra sage board (that i got on ebay for 350 as the user said it powered on and wouldnt post) worked like a charm. also the other sage board for my buddy booted up just fine. i have a single 6136 ES setup in each. the 2133p ecc ram works fine in both as far as testing goes. I have some other 2400 non ecc as well as 2400 ecc ram i will also test.
I did not go with the ebay seller as sending one or even both boards was upwards of 200+ and the guy wouldnt budge on the price if i was going to send him two boards.
Anyways the 6136 ES works and i will have 2 6138 ES to test as well. (I wanted more cores and threads for my build) i will be installing windows on both and running some benchmarks shortly and report back to everyone. @avd and @Lost_N_BIOS thank you so much for all of your hard work on getting these fully functional.
You’re welcome @sochotek - it’s all mainly @avd though, I simply followed his lead.
I should have kept trying the ucode inserts as new BIOS came out, not sure why I didn’t have people keep trying that, just assumed Asus blocked I guess
Need some test with other ES 50650, 50651, 50653, 50654 too if anyone has these
ok so anyone else testing and having really slow reboots? i dont know if it is a jumper pin mismatch. . . or what but im talking sometimes 15 minutes after the video input goes blank. and it could be the heat upstairs as it has become humid AF over here. BUT the supermicro board was getting around 25k on passmark with a odd 25XX on cinebench. on the sage wth the same 6136 im getting like 14500 on passmark but cinebench (15) is kinda killing it witha 3700+ score. . just things i have noticed so far with an nvme drive and a gtx1070 all drivers up to date. but yeah the only hting that gets me is the boot and reboot times. any food for thought is greatly appreciated.
Update: SO in finishing my stress test on AIDA64 X i noticed my power draw is only 98watts on the cpu. i have a 1000w evga gold psu. . . should be plenty of juice as im not really OC yet. just addding little tidbits as my tests progress.
In fact I tried to add microcode to support engineering sample but it still didn’t work in some mobo.
I think it may lack of something more?
@Lost_N_BIOS
@gloobox - I did too, on early BIOS here and it failed, but it’s now working on more recent BIOS with adding microcode only.
So if you have this board I made flashback file at post #241 (already confirmed working too, so you have no worries to test)
@sochotek My first boot took a long time as you describe, but I have not noticed any excessive boot delays since then. That being said multisocket rigs very rarely POST quickly, but 15 mins does sound a bit excessive. I also haven’t started up that many times due to my machine missing a good chunk of its cooling firmware because I haven’t written it yet.
yeah i am probably an idiot as i had my motherboard on the test bench and updated everything with that but when switched it over to my buddies i am almost positive i didnt remember to update the FW. unfortuantely i have another machine that got dropped in my lap last minute that im rebuild (older am3+ build) but i will update with any news once i check the firmware and update it. thanks again for the tips and suggestions.
OK so update.
BMC Firmware is 1.09
I have a bunch of dual socket motherboards i have been tinkering with and this one seems to take a little longer, but i think after ALL the updates in windows it seems to be alot better. Passmark scores went up to around 21k after i put more ram in and made it atleast quad channel. so i would assume passmark will go up even more with 6 channel setup. eitherway im pretty sure this MB is good to go.
I will be sending this motherboard back to my friend, but im testing this week on my board the 6130 ES and 6138 ES. the seller accidentally sent me the wrong one so i said i would buy the 6130 QL1M for 100. Hopefully i can find a single socket board to use this on after i do some testing with it. Ill keep everyone posted
