Allow B0 stepping on Asus W621E Sage

@Lost_N_BIOS

got it powering on again, must use ASProgrammer!!!

had not thought to use that instead of CH341A. did and Erase then wrote and all seams to be ok again thanks for the tip!!

@Lost_N_BIOS

I think the issue is my base dump bios that i took before starting all the playing around has problems… Loaded up AVDs original dump fine and PC boots fine.

any chance I could send you my backup dump for you to look at?

@Lost_N_BIOS

Heres a link to the file.

Nice to see you guys.
I’m new in here.
C621E SAGE is on the way to me.

How can I check the microcode of the CPU?

Edit : Oh, never mind. I found it at cpu-world.

It works like a charm guys thank you so much! More RGB with stripes to follow later

@levelud

Are you running dual ES CPUs with non-ecc RAM??

@TechStream - sorry I missed your previous tags! What did you want me to check, or are you all sorted out again now?

@Lost_N_BIOS

Nah think my initial bios dump is corrupt. Sent you a pm with the file.

Dont suppose you could take a look if you have a chance…

Hi All

New to the thread. Extremely impressive work

All my stuff for my c621 build has arrived so want to test out this 6136 ES i have. the zipped file that was posted ealier, will this work fine with just using the bios flashback tool or will i need to also invest in a reprogrammer? will be testing in a couple of hours once im back from work

Now, I am running ECC Memory. I didn‘t like the green so I have added a heatspreader to them.

@TechStream - I haven’t read PM yet, but your post above confuses me again.
If your dump is corrupt, why send to me, to check for what (to confirm maybe)? If it is, or not, or you think so, but system is running now, just throw that away and make new dump

@Gurney - this post @ #241 will work for you w/ flashback - Allow B0 stepping on Asus W621E Sage (17)

Thanks @Lost_N_BIOS for the work. Has posted successfully and gets to the missing drive error code. unfortunately i dont have a VGA cable with the right connector so will have to wait a couple of days until it arrives. Will check back with some results hopefully soon

@Lost_N_BIOS

Im current using AVDs ROM file. But would rather use a stock bios flashed with your .CAP file if possible. However when I do an update with a stock bios from the ASUS website the board no longer posts.

The only way i was able to get the board running again was to flash the AVD ROM.

@TechStream - OK, I will check and see if anything looks funky to me, but before I look please clarify - is the above dump one from after you USB Flashback the mod BIOS I made, then it fails and you dump it?
Did you try, with AVD’s rom on there, flash stock.CAP then reboot and flash the mod.CAP I posted?

@Lost_N_BIOS

Dump of totally stock board before anything was done to it.

I have tried flashing a stock bios ontop of AVDs then obviously it doesnt boot any more but it also doesnt boot if i then flash your .cap file.

Stock dump untouched isn’t going to help me find anything out here then. Put in non ES CPU, flash stock BIOS then flash ADV’s or mine in, then once running put back in the ES CPU’s
Do you have flash programmer? If yes, get something going on non-ES CPU and then dump your BIOS with programmer for me, I’ll pull your details and NVRAM etc and put them into the ES BIOS I made and remove it from capsule so you can program it back in.

So @TechStream so when you say it wont post. . .are you just getting stuck in a boot loop or back to square one
with stock bios with the b6 error? I ask because i put the 6130 back in for testing before i put my double 6138 back (with new Noctua coolers) in. when putting the dual setup back on i was stuck in a boot loop that i couldnt figure out why. Well long story short took both cpus off and 2 minor bent pins. . . and oddly my beard hair (i have a longer beard) was stuck between the pins. took that out, unbent the pins (which wasnt much) and voila i was back up and running.

if you are getting the q code again perhaps flash a stock bios and then flash to the newest 5503 bios, and then flash to the lost_n_bios . . . bios. that is what i did since i had messed with the bios so much before. hopefully that helps.

Also, UPDATED TESTING:
6130: Single CPU
Passmark: 19538
CB15: 1852
CB20: 6235

Dual 6138
Passmark: 28416
CB15: 4326
CB20: 10338

Very happy overall, now im just waiting for my 4 u.2 drives and I’m still in the midst of actually building my DUAL EATX Case, so it will be a little bit still. pics to come when complete.

To my understanding , what we need to do is only add 50652 uCode using latest BIOS , that’s all.
ASUS just let us boot with B0 ES ? We can’t mod this to other motherboard ?

@dsanke - yes, that seems to be all now, after all that hassle with earlier BIOS I gave up and didn’t try modding new BIOS until @avd posted he figured it out on new BIOS easily.
I posted USB Flashback ready mod BIOS on page 17 post 241, with all ES microcodes added

Post 201-204+233 avd mentiones the key to this he thinks is the new seccore in latest BIOS + ucode, so maybe that seccore could be utilized for other boards, or maybe you can figure out something with it (how to port to other boards, other brands ect - I haven’t looked at it myself)

Single socket 50651 seems to work ok, will do more testing once I figure out a cooling solution.
