[ARCHIVE] Outdated UBU Tool related Questions, Reports and Suggestions

1054 bsf is still OK for this version? Thanks!

yes, it does work.

The latest bios for my Z97 motherboard contains:

OROM IRST RAID for SATA - 13.5.0.2164
EFI IRST RAID for SATA - 13.5.0.2164
EFI GOP Driver HSW-BDW - 5.5.1032
OROM QCM-Atheros PXE - 2.1.1.1

With UBU I have the option to update to:

OROM IRST RAID for SATA - 15.1.0.2545
EFI IRST RAID for SATA - 15.1.0.2545
EFI GOP Driver HSW-BDW - 5.5.1034
OROM QCM-Atheros PXE - 2.1.1.5

Does anyone know if updating any of the above would cause a problem?

The best orom for z97 is 14.8…
Z87 / Z97 - OROM IRST RAID for SATA - 14.8.2.2397
EFI IRST RAID for SATA - 14.8.2.2397

And EFI GOP Driver HSW-BDW - 5.5.1040

I though 5.5.1034 was the latest in UBU v1.69.16. Where can I find 5.5.1040?

After updating bios do I need to also update windows drivers to match versions?

Here:

No, the GopDriver BIOS module version and the version of the in-use Intel Graphics driver are independant from each other.

I don’t have much experience in bios modding, but I understand that if I don’t use the on-board graphics, updating the EFI GOP Driver HSW-BDW would not have any effect. But what about the OROM IRST RAID and EFI IRST RAID for SATA? Are these always in use by the OS (Windows) to make sense updating?

@kyriacos :
The Intel RAID modules of the BIOS (LEGACY Option ROM resp. EFI SataDriver/RaidDriver) are only used by the system, if your on-board Intel SATA Controller has been set to “RAID”.
Consequence: As long as your SATA connected HDDs or SSDs are running in IDE or AHCI mode, an update of these BIOS modules don’t have any effect.

@ernesto_97 :
Welcome to the Win-RAID Forum!

If you should mean the AMI Aptio UEFI MMTool v5.0.0.7, you should read the red colored text within the start post of >this< thread.
Good luck!

EFI Intel GOP Driver SKL-KBL v9.0.0.1075 show as version unknown

Latest “Linux* Processor Microcode Data File” released on 25/April/2018

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/downloa…ocode-Data-File

I can not found 02-April-2018 dated microcode updates in it? I don’t have Linux and any April patched cpu’s (socket 1156 group, Arrandale notebook etc.) Can anyone verify it?

03-May-2018 update and answered to my own question, Sadly 25-April-2018 updates not included! Intel! What have you done? People are complaining, down link:

What happens if upcoming Windows after Windows 10, asks for new microcodes before starting installation? I have started to think that!

@kkwy :
Welcome to the Win-RAID Forum and thanks for your report, which has been moved by me into this better matching thread.

Enjoy the Forum!

Hello guys! With latest UBU V1.69.17 as indicated by kkwy EFI Intel GOP Driver SKL-KBL V.9.0.0.1075 show as “version unknown”.
Sonix could you add “Intel Haswell-Broadwell VBIOS 5.5.1044” submitted by Pacman?!

Thanks a lot for your great work!

Cheers,

KK

I assume you have to copy the settings from the old Vbios- module according to >this guide< first?

When finished you can simply copy the new module into Modules\VGA\ as ‘vbioshsw.dat’. Next time you use UBU on a Haswell Bios it will offer to update the Vbios with the new one.

(Tried it actually this morning, but didn’t flash the Bios yet…)

@ex58
“latest is from february 2018” nein, new one is present now.
