I’m now trying to replace the MicroCode for about 5 days …without success… I tried different Tools but none seems to be working correctly. CBROM (v1.4.0-1.5.5.1 should be working - higher versions will stuck so the bios must be equivalent to gigabyte) /cpucode or /nc_cpucode won’t work even if I don’t use the microcodes which I don’t need for my i5-2410M (206A7). If I use HxD and replace the microcode part the bios file gets bigger and if I try to flash it, it says that the information part was not found.
Can anyone help me buiding this bios file? If there’s no space and something must be deleted, then feel free to delete for example the slic/logo and all other microcodes than CPUID 206A7.
Maybe it has secure protect for write if we do any chage on bios i think. I told you how to replace microcode. I use phoenixtool to open it ,you can find a lot of modules on dump folder. Microcode are on "PADDING_1955.ROM "module ,you can replace it. I use phoenixtool version was 273.
Uefitool open this bios has error message , so i choose this tool.
I changed the microcode in a similar(?) Bios for a Samsung Notebook (HM65 chipset, core i5-2450M). There was an option to flash only the new microcode into the bios in the Phoenix Winflash program. [Link]
genius239: I don’t understand what you did to the bios file- when I open the modified file you linked previously in 7zip I get a collection of modules in an ‘Insyde’ folder? I’d think the dos flasher might expect a single rom-file of the same size as the backup (2560kB)? UEFITool_NE a47 reported errors with an unchanged bios from Samsung, too, UEFItool 0.22.4 says “parseVolume: unknown file system FFF12B8D-7696-4C8B-A985-2747075B4F50”- that is the element which starts with the microcode.
thank for your reply, the AH531 and AH531/GFO are different models. The AH531 only has the integrated Intel GPU and the AH531/GFO models also has a Nvidia GT 525M (N12P-GE/12P-Q).
So there are guaranteed missing nvidia modules, maybe something else which will not be correctly addressed. I don’t know why this notebook is not listed in the products list. Maybe they have some error with the slash. You have to go to http://support.ts.fujitsu.com/Index.asp?lng=en "select a new product -> product search -> AH531/GFO -> in the bannersection click downloads and then to category BIOS". You’ll see version 1.24 is the lastest BIOS for this model.
Thanks i will test your recommendation for just updating the microcode.
thank you very much, it was really working! I’ve extracted/executed the BIOS.exe file in a virtual machine, so that the installationprocess is not directly running and your hardware/peripherie dont freeze. After the error that the BIOS couldn’t be installed on this device (VM) go to C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Temp and grep the BIOS1.WPH in the WinFlash Folder. Install Phoenix UEFI Winflash v1.5.66 and copy the BIOS1.WPH into that folder “C:\Program Files (x86)\UEFI Winflash” also download the newest microcodes from intel and extract this by dropping the microcode.dat over microdecode.exe… find your CPUID (which will be shown for example in inSpectre). Copy that .bin file also to the WinFlash-Folder and rename it into a shortername (i also used your example “2d.bin”). After that open cmd in administrationmode and go to path “C:\Program Files (x86)\UEFI Winflash” and enter "winflash /sa /vcpu:2d.bin BIOS1.WPH"
Thank you very much for all your help and best regards realize
The Nvidia Chip does not necessarily mean a different bios- the Samsung notebook was available with and without Nvidia 520M and they share the same bios '0QA’. Search on ebay for BA92-09190A and BA92-09185A and check the sticker on the board close to the ram slots- both say '0QA’ There is only one module in the GFO bios that has nvidia in it- ‘NvidiaIRQModify.efi’. When looking at the file history both bios seem very similar but development/ numbers were a little asynchronous.
I have problem with TurboBoost with i7-2820QM which achieve TurboBoost frequency (up to 3.4 GHz) on battery. When its plugged in AC adapter procesor achieve 2.6 GHz and no more.
I have to say that I updated microcode in BIOS for i7 2820QM. Didn’t solved problem. Can I have a TurboBoost mode in BIOS or something to repair TurboBoost?
Adding microcode is not the only thing that makes a CPU work, nor makes it 100% compatible, and those two things are totally not the same.
What is the chipset here? For Sandy >> Ivy, you usually need update ME FW too, and that needs to be done by manufacturer when this is case because many other modules need updated too in order to allow SB >> Ivy
Update vBIOS we have a thread here, search BMP vBIOS
Need help when i try upgrading cpu to i5 2450m no display i’m using bios v 1.30 and old pentium sandybridge processor chipset is hm 65 no virtualisation menu in bios since my processor not supporting virtualisation n hyperthreading i check microcodes on bios v 1.30 cpu id 206a7 version january 2012 need advice a.s.a.p what should i do to make my i5 2450m running ? Is it the hardware issues (broken processor)or chipset not supported?thanks
@Sober - could be broken CPU, since it already has micocode in there for that CPU, it should be working. I will update it for you tonight and see if that helps. I still need yuou to confirm your model, there is AH351 and AH351/GFO, which do you have?
Also, do you already know method to flash mod BIOS? Seems on page one they had problems here, but it does look like towards end user “realize” gave method to update microcodes only. Did you already do that, and update 206A7 to latest version?
