Intel, AMD, VIA & Freescale CPU Microcode Repositories Discussion

shame the latest is not recommended at all

Read last night that Lenovo pulled 406F1 - 0B000025 from their servers due to people having some serious BSOD issues.
Think the recommendation came from Intel and that they are working on a newer version. Personally I have not had
those kinds of issues with that release but you guys should use it with caution.

@davidm71 :
Please read Intel’s recent statement regarding the Meltdown/Spectre problem and the recent OEM’s tries to fix it. I have already posted the related link >here<.
Conclusion: It is more risky trying to solve the Meltdown/Spectre problems with the currently available updates than to do nothing and to wait for a better solution.

Was wondering if cpuid 906E9 Platform 2A Version 80 is safe to use? Its the latest one posted in the repository.

Thanks

C2 to Skylake interesting updated or remain 2017-11-16 ?

What a nonsense, version C2 was already, the new version should have a new date.
Intel does everything to confuse the consumer.

I’ve been using version C2 for a couple months now on Skylake. Only had one weird issue with desktop explorer menus having graphical anomalies that went away after clean video driver install. Anyhow @Prodif Thanks I saw that advisory last night on Asrocks site and took care not to use it however read that the reboots occur more with Haswell and Broadwell than on Skylake. Read last post on page ten: http://forum.asrock.com/forum_posts.asp?..n-for-older-mbs though later they did say all are affected.

IDK, How Intel can say 00000C2 is older and 0xC2 is newer when they are actually similar/looks exactly the same.

I found this weird 506E3 FF microcode in a MSI Z170-A PRO BIOS (1J2):

@plutomaniac
Thank for adding 0x1D microcode to GitHub repository.

thanks haha intel is comedy

Has anyone found the now in production MCU for Westmere (206C2 - 0x1E) yet? I’d give it a try on my modded P6TWS BIOS but it is not in the database yet.

I’m looking for same microcode with my vanilla flavored Asus P6T bios running a Xeon X5680 oc’d to 4.625Ghz! Just as good as the Coffee Lake procs intel is churning out…

Nice OC you’ve got there on your Westmere-CPU! My X5650 is a drama queen and I use it @ 4 Ghz at all-cores @ 1.28 V with a Thermalright Macho Rev. A. Fast and cool enough for gaming for the next couple of years. Let’s hope that the new microcode doesn’t cripple the performance or stability too much. :wink:

By the way, I 'll keep on refreshing this HP support site (https://support.hp.com/de-de/document/c05869091) to extract the microcode out of the Z400 BIOS when it is released.
