The Marvell MagniPlus 9230 chipset is sold as both an embedded SATA controller and PCI-e card SATA controller (by vendors such as IOCrest/Syba, StarTech, Highpoint, Sunrich Technology, Ableconn, Beyimei, Diewu etc) and share firmware that can be updated with specific Marvell tools.
There are different models of the 9230 that have different features enabled/disabled and ideally you should only flash firmware that has been configured for your model.
For example some 9230 models may have Hyper-Duo, RAID (0/1/10) and AES Encryption enabled or disabled - see the table below:
NOTE1: The four Marvell MagniPlus models 9215, 9220, 9230, 9235 each require specific firmware, the archive above contains legacy (CSM) and UEFI firmware only for the 9230 (both A0 and A1 revisions). The Marvell firmware tools (mvf_mag.exe and mvf.efi) can be used with these models.
NOTE2: The three Marvell Magni models 9120, 9123, 9128 require specific firmware that is not included in this archive. The Marvell firmware tools (mvf_mag.exe and mvf.efi) can be used with these models.
NOTE3: The Magni-Lite models 9170, 9171, 9182 require specific firmware that is not included in this archive. The Marvell firmware tools (mvf_mag.exe and mvf.efi) can be used with these models.
You can use a Microsoft DOS bootable USB or UEFI shell to update the firmware.
