@BOBBYGLI
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_A2AF is an Intel USB 3 controller for their 200/300 series of chipsets. I assume your using the default microsoft driver.
If you have a spare PCI-E slot you can get a 3rd party USB 3 card and bypass your motherboard USB 3 ports, if that helps.
sorry is this replacing the motherboard
No, just replacing the obviously not properly working Intel USB 3.0/3.1 Controller.
Alternative: Ask your mainboard manufacturer or Intel for USB 3.0/3.1 drivers, which work with your on-board Intel USB 3.0/3.1 Controller while running Win10/11.
Hello everyone,
I am novice in this field…
On the forum : Intel® USB 3.0 Extensible Host Controller Driver (they suspect a problem on the Intel USB 3.0 extensible host controller driver - 1.0 (Microsoft), I found a link to this forum.
I have a : Lenovo 720S-14IKB (Type 80XC) Laptop (ideapad)-Windows 10 (64-bit)
* Intel Chipset Driver for Windows 10 (64-bit) - 720S-14IKB (Type 81BD)
* Pilote-Contrôleur hôte Intel(R) USB 3.0 extensible - 1 .0 (Microsoft)
* Fournisseur du pilote : Microsoft (07/06/2021)-Version 10.0.19041.1081)
** Contrôleur hôte Intel USB 3.0 eXtensible - 1.0 (Microsoft)
* ID compatibles :
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_9D2F&REV_21
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_9D2F
PCI\VEN_8086&CC_0C0330
PCI\VEN_8086&CC_0C03
PCI\VEN_8086
PCI\CC_0C0330
PCI\CC_0C03
I would like to know if my Lenovo 720S is compatible with one of the Intel USB 3.0/3.1 driver packs ?
And if it is possible, what drivers test ?
- Drivers 64bit Intel USB 3.0 / 3.1 dated from 05/11/2017
- Drivers 64bit Intel USB 3.0 / 3.1 dated from 27/09/2018
Thank you Fernando for your investment on the forum.
@douphil : Welcome to the Win-RAID Forum!
Yes, the “pure 64bit Intel USB 3.0+3.1 Drivers v5.0.4.43 mod+signed by Fernando” do support your on-board Intel USB 3.0/3.1 Controller.
Don’t forget to import the Win-RAID CA Certificate before you start with the driver installation.
Good luck!
Dieter (alias Fernando)
Merci Fernando pour votre réponse rapide; Je vais donc tester les 2 packs de pilotes Intel USB 3.0/3.1;
Encore merci pour votre travail.
@douphil : This is an English language Forum.
Note: Within the start post of this thread is only 1 package with Intel USB 3.0/3.1 drivers, which will support your system while running Win10.
Sorry Fernando, I went too fast…
I will test the 2 packs of drivers dated 27/09/2018 and from 05/11/2017, in order to find the right.
Thank you again for your work.
@douphil : There are no Intel USB 3.0/3.1 drivers dated 09/27/2018, only an Installer Set with that date, but the Set contains the same old drivers dated 05/11/2017.
By the way - you will not be able to get the drivers installed by running the Setup.exe of the Installer Set, because the Set only supports Win7.
Hello Fernando
Perfect. The driver update was performed with the pack :
pure 64bit Intel USB 3.0+3.1 Drivers v5.0.4.43 re-mod+signed by Fernando
Thank you again for your excellent job.
I have some experiences I’d like to share. I have an ASUS PRIME-X470 PRO motherboard and Windows 10 (19043):
Had a random BSOD with Renesas 3.0.23.0 drivers when I started messing with a USB PCI-E card a few days ago. This was particularly unusual and I’m confident it was related to these drivers (never had a BSOD before, only just forced these drivers over the MS ones about an hour earlier). If I use that USB card again, I’d only stick with Microsoft drivers since they worked fine.
AMD’s USB 3.0 and 3.1 drivers are super problematic. The USB 3.0 drivers notably break support with Oculus Rift CV1 sensors and have instability with the HMD, neither of which are an issue with the MS drivers. The 3.0 drivers also consistently cause a BSOD any time the controller is disabled or if you go to remove the device, and notably is a problem when installing AMD’s graphics drivers (they update a PCI root complex device which resets most devices on the system, including that USB controller). I don’t know how to recover a system out of this mess aside from a OS reinstall (can’t remove it from Safe Mode even). MS’s drivers work great here, so I’d highly recommend avoiding installing AMD’s USB drivers on Windows 10 in all cases.
ASMedia’s 1.16.61.1 drivers work fine, but don’t offer any advantage in my case over MS drivers. With the Oculus USB test, the speed lowers a tiny bit when using ASMedia’s drivers over MS’s drivers, but Oculus Link still works fine. I use ASMedia’s driver just to avoid having to see an optional section in Windows Update, but I’m not aware of any advantages here compared to MS’s drivers.
I have asus tuf a15 with. Device Name: AMD Renoir/VanGogh/Cezanne - USB 3.1 Controller
Original Device Name: AMD Renoir/VanGogh/Cezanne - USB 3.1 Controller
Device Class: USB xHCI Controller
Revision ID: 0
PCI Address (Bus:Device:Function) Number: 5:0:4
PCI Latency Timer: 0
Hardware ID: PCI\VEN_1022&DEV_1639&SUBSYS_201F1043&REV_00
is there any way to mod amd drivers work win11? ill buy you a beer.
@anghtwolf : Welcome to the Win-RAID Forum!
Which USB driver problem do you have while running Win11?
Yes, it is a generic driver (supports all USB 3.0/3.1 Controllers from all manufacturers).

Hello! Please help me to cope with the problem!
My Windows 10 does not see external HDD/SSD/FlashCard drives connected to USB 3.0 ports.
At the same time, the system sees the same drives connected to USB 2.0 and USB-C ports.
Yesterday, after a long non-use of the computer, I once again connected the external HDD to the USB 3.0 port and it worked!
But then, when I pulled it out and connected an external SSD, it stopped being detected again - both SSD and HDD, and FlashCard.
I searched the internet and couldn’t find a solution anywhere.
I used driver update programs (Driver Magician, Driver Genius, Driver Max, Snappy Driver) to find the problem in the USB driver, but the programs didn’t help either, and some of these programs don’t update drivers at all for some reason.
And there are no exclamation marks in Windows device manager either.
Please tell me how you can solve this problem with USB 3.0.
Hello ! I have installed Win-RAID CA Certificate, but drivers I have downloaded from here for ASMedia USB 3.0/3.1 are still installed with the Windows certificate. What I do wrong?
Also what is the correct USB 3.0 drivers for my system ?
My motherboard Gigabyte B85M-D3H rev.2
@alexfoggy : Welcome to the Win-RAID Forum!
To be able to help you I need to know
a) the HardwareIDs of your on-board ASMedia USB Controller,
b) the reason why you want to change the currently used USB 3.0/3.1 drivers and
c) the OS you are running.
Regards
Dieter (alias Fernando)
Hello Dieter,
- a) I think that is the ID for the ASMedia USB Controller:
Device ID: PCI\VEN_1B21&DEV_1242&SUBSYS_12421B21&REV_00\4&1035DA1A&0&00E4
Hardware IDs: PCI\VEN_1B21&DEV_1242&SUBSYS_12421B21&REV_00 PCI\VEN_1B21&DEV_1242&SUBSYS_12421B21 PCI\VEN_1B21&DEV_1242&CC_0C0330 PCI\VEN_1B21&DEV_1242&CC_0C03 - b) I think maybe it working to slow and controller detected some devices as USB 2.0, but should be USB 3.0
Also, I have such errors, but maybe its normal.

@alexfoggy : Thanks for the requested information.
Since your problem with the ASMedia USB 3.0/3.1 drivers while running Win7 x64 has nothing to do with the topic of >this< thread, I haved moved our discussion into this much better matching thread.
Since I do not offer any mod+signed ASMedia USB 3.0/3.1 drivers, you cannot install any.
The currently latest and probably best ASMedia USB 3.0/3.1 drivers for your system are the ASMedia USB 3.0+3.1 Drivers v1.16.61.1 WHQL for Win7-8 dated 05/21/2020. You can find them within the start post of this thread.
Good luck!
@Fernando
Why, when I install them, then the Windows certificate is installed to them and not the Win-Raid certificate?
What I am doing wrong due to the install process?
Could you also please advise Intel USB 3.0 drivers to my system?
