[Outdated] USB 3.0/3.1 Drivers (original and modded)

There is "Enabled" and "Disabled" for both

Thank you very much! I’ll try it as soon as I can

@Fernando and all:

I just installed the ASMedia USB 3.0/3.1 v1.16.48.1 WHQL drivers on the machine in my sig and no problems so far.

Cheers

Thanks for your feedback.
Did you have problems with the previously released ASMedia USB 3.1 drivers?
Do you think, that I can remove the links to the much older ASMedia USB 3.1 drivers v1.16.41.3 from the start post??

Yes I did. Versions after v1.16.41.3 but before v1.16.47.2 all had problems for me.

Yeah I don’t see a problem with that.

@Fernando
Ok, I’ve tested the drivers you provided and they seem to work fine, one strange issue is with one single device which is an ORICO 2.5 inch external sata caddy which doesn’t seem to work: The drive inside spins up, windows plays the sound and then it turns off. Not sure why but it works on USB 2.0 so it’s just weird and I don’t understand how it’s possible. Apart from that everything seems to work fine

@Fernando
This is interesting… I tried to mod the USB3 drivers for windows 7 that came on my motherboard’s website and that device still doesn’t get recognsed… I assume it’s because of the driver itself and I imagine it wouldn’t work on Windows 7 either. So thanks a lot for your work, I really appreciate it!!

@ bussola99

That’s interesting, because i have a USB2 caddy that I removed from a Verbatim 2.5" external drive case and I replaced the original Hitachi 160GB hybrid drive with a 2.5" 1TB drive, which has a similar symptom with the previous Asmedia USB3-3.1 driver. I must try it with the new drivers I installed earlier this morning to see if it was the old driver or whether it has a hardware/cable problem, which is what i thought it was.

It used to work fine on my HP Pavilion dv6 3000 series notebook, but it did the light on continually and not seen by Windows when I last used it on my Asus Maximus VIII Ranger desktop. I should have tried it again on the HP notebook to confirm a hardware fault but got too busy …

@bussola99 :
Thanks for your feedback.

Since I am offering a lot of USB drivers from different manufacturers, it would be a good idea to specify the drivers you have tested.
Thanks in advance!

@Fernando

Yeah sorry I forgot, I tried this: 64bit DPInst Set with Intel USB 3.0 Drivers v1.0.10.255 mod+signed by Fernando.rar
It’s the archive you gave me to test with the Intel 7 Series/C216 usb controller that I have

Guess what? I installed windows 7 on a spare hard drive just to test this theory and it turns out the caddy does in fact work at usb 3.0 speeds… Now I’m confused but I’ll keep it as it is for now…

Which USB 3.0 driver version works with the caddy while running Win7?
Whould it make any sense to offer any Win10 compatible mod+signed Intel USB 3.0 driver for Intel 7-Series Chipset systems? If yes, which version should be the basis?

@Fernando
It’s the one I’m providing here. I’ve already tried modding the INF by myself and installing it on Windows 10 (with signature check disabled) but no signs of the caddy working, so maybe there’s nothing to be done about this, there’s also the possibility that I did something wrong but it might as well be a slight incompatibility with windows 10. The archive contains all the original files, I had to delete the exe’s to stay under 6mb.
By the way, I think the caddy uses an ASMedia controller if this is useful

IntelUSB30.rar (3.75 MB)

This is most important. If the caddy is connected to an ASMedia USB Controller, you will not get it working by modifying any Intel USB driver.

@Fernando
I didn’t mean that, I’m pretty sure I have no ASMedia controller on my motherboard, the caddy uses an ASMedia controller for the sata to usb conversion

@bussola:
Thanks for the clarification.
On the basis of your report I have just updated the start post (details see below).

Thanks to bussola99 for his report.

Good luck with these new/customized Intel USB 3.0/3.1 drivers!

Hi just wanted to say, i don’t have any issues with the previous “pure” modded 32/64bit Intel USB 3.0/3.1 Drivers v5.0.4.43 WHQL with my z77 chipset, also with DEV_1E31 on windows 10x64 v1703 fully updated now to build 15063.502 (my motherboard is ga-z77x-ud5h rev1.0) This motherboard has always been a pain with the usb3 ports being buggy a lot, so i thought i should give these a try.

Installed using the DPInst, and all the right devices show the updated driver, and tested with external USB3 dock and a usb3 flash stick, speeds all good and i feel like now i actually have less issues with ejection sometimes lagging (haven’t lagged once yet since). Been working with them installed for almost a week. So now i see you removed the ones for z77 and 5.0.4.43 mod with DEV_1E31. Just wanted to let you know for me they have been fantastic but if i do run into an issue i will post it. I just wonder why for me they are so good on mine and everyone else with DEV_1E31 has such a problem?

@jmdbox :
Welcome to the Win-RAID Forum and thanks for your report.
I removed the DEV_1E31 support from the mod+signed Intel USB 3.0 drivers v5.0.4.43, because I got some reports from users with an Intel 7-Series Chipset system running Win10, that these drivers didn’t work properly. That was the reason why I decided to offer the mod+signed Intel USB 3.0 drivers v1.0.10.255, which were designed by Intel specificly for the DEV_1E31 USB Controller.
It would not be a big problem for me to re-add the DEV_1E31 support into the mod+signed v5.0.4.43 drivers, but I need a proof, that the modded version of the v5.0.4.43 drivers is better for Intel 7-Series Chipset systems than the modded v1.0.10.255.
Please compare them and post your conclusion.

Sorry, I’m not native English speaker.
Modded Intel USB 3.0/3.1 Drivers are now only for Win8 and Win10 (confused with “from Win7 up” and “are installable onto Win8 and Win10” in description)?

@r1vver :
Welcome to the Win-RAID Forum!

They are usable with all Windows Operating Systems from Win7 up, but it wouldn’t make sense for Win7 users to install any of my modded drivers, because the original WHQL certified variants natively do support Win7.

Just finished fresh install of Win7 x64 on ASUS P8Z77-V Deluxe (7-series USB3 1E31).
Driver used - "pure 64bit Intel USB 3.0 Drivers v1.0.10.255 WHQL for Win7 with DPInst option".
DPInst does even not show any window at all (and not install anything).
Only manual installation installed driver.
Dunno what is/was wrong.
