[Outdated] USB 3.0/3.1 Drivers (original and modded)

I just updated to 1709 and it installed ASMedia 1.16.45, going to install 1.16.51.1.
I was running 1.16.41.3, I had to move mouse/Kb to intel ports, real nice MS.

Hello, Fernando. I have Xiaomi Air 13,3 notebook and external Hitachi Touro pro 3Tb. I installed your drivers and now I can view files on my Hitachi Touro Pro in Windows 10. But I can’t copy any files to External disk. The disk seems to be lost by the system when copying.

Could you please tell us how to install the drivers on the Xiaomi laptop and what drivers should be installed.

Thank you.

@vadimmva :
Welcome to the Win-RAID Forum!

As you probably know, I own the Xiaomi Air 13,3 Fingerprint Edition myself and have had no problems until now with connected external USB devices.
Your issues are obviously caused by your specific Hitachi Touro pro 3Tb in combination with Win10. For details look >here<.
If this problem should be caused by the Win10 in-box MS USB 3.0 driver, you can try to install the latest Intel USB 3.0 driver v5.0.4.43, which has been modified by me for being usable with Win10 and offered wthin the start post of this thread. This driver works fine with my Xiaomi Air 13,3 notebook.
Don’t forget to import the Win-RAID CA Certificate according to >this< guide, before you start with the installation of the 3 drivers (Controller/Hub/Switch). For an easy installation just double-click onto the DPInst64.exe file.

If the mod+signed Intel USB 3.0 driver should not solve your problem, I cannot help you. In this case you should better contact the Hitachi Technical Support.

Hello all
just instaled that “ASMedia USB 3.0+3.1 Drivers & Software Set v1.16.51.1 WHQL for Win7-10 dated 02/13/2018” and now the driver is listed under microsoft vendor
is it because new win driver is more up to date in comparsion with asmedia one ?
is there any performance difference ?

@winter2 :
Welcome to the Win-RAID Forum!

Please let us know the HardwareIDs of your on-board ASMedia USB 3.1 Controller (right-click onto it > “Properties” > “Details” > “Propert” > “HardwareIDs”).
Maybe your specific USB 3.1 Controller is not supported by the new ASMedia drivers.

Didn’t you get an error message?

There is no generally valid answer, because all systems are different. You may check the performance differences yourself (provided, that the ASMedia driver supports your on-board ASMedia USB 3.1 Controller at all).

Dieter (alias Fernando)

@Fernando :
Thanks for the fast reply
I checked the compatibility and should be okay its:
PCI\VEN_1B21&DEV_2142&CC_0C03
I didnt get any error issue during instal
If I try manualy update that driver with that asmedia one I got message I already have best one

About that performance I just want to know generaly if there is any documented performance issue. Or not rly. few mb/s doesnt bother me.

Intel claims
"Windows* 8, Windows* 8.1, and WindowsÂŽ 10 have a native in-box USB 3.0 driver. Intel is not releasing a specific IntelÂŽ USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller Driver for Windows 8, 8.1, or 10.
If you are upgrading from Windows* 7 to Windows 8, 8.1, or 10, uninstall the Intel USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller Driver before installing the upgrade."

@winter2 :
Which OS are you running?
If it should be Win10, please try to use the “pure” driver by hitting the DPInst.exe file.

Usually the specific driver, which is offered by the manufacturer of the related device (here: USB Controller), is the best choice, but there are some exceptions. The latest Win10 in-box generic MS USB and AHCI drivers are really good as well.

@lime :
Welcome to the Win-RAID Forum and thanks for your feedback!

You are right: It is not easy to understand why Intel constricts the usability of their USB 3.0 drivers exclusively to Win7.

Any hope for VIA: PCI\VEN_1106&DEV_3483&SUBSYS_34831106?

Also on same device:

PCI\VEN_1106&DEV_3483&SUBSYS_34831106&REV_01
PCI\VEN_1106&DEV_3483&CC_0C03
PCI\VEN_1106&DEV_3483&CC_0C0330

The same PCI card also contains: "USB Root Hub (USB 3.0)". Not sure if this is VIA, too.

USB\ROOT_HUB30&VID1106&PID3483

@MagneticStuff :

Similar problem, checked everything an no drivers for Windows 10.

I bought Delock PCI Express Card VL800 > 3 x external + 1 x internal USB 3.0 and on the box it’s written that it’s supported on Win 10 32/64 but no…USB xHCI Compliant Host Controller has an exclamation and in Properties “This device cannot start. (Code 10)” , Driver provider Microsoft, no matter what VIA driver version I installed(although it was written that they doesn’t support Win 10).
During my search, I found Win-Raid Forum read everything here and tried modified drivers but sadly, they made no change. :frowning:

I’m pasting Properties-> Details data in hope that it might help some of us have working drivers for Windows 10 32/64, with donation included (y)

@Degman :
Welcome to the Win-RAID Forum!

Which is the sense of your message?
Shall I modify the VIA USB 3.0 drivers to make them usable with Windows 10?
Are you not satisfied with the Win10 in-box USB 3.0 drivers?

Regards
Dieter (alias Fernando)

Hi Fernando :slight_smile:

I apologize if I was imprecise. Win 10 in-box drivers doesn’t work with this card. And yes, is there any chance you can modify VIA USB 3.0 Drivers to work with Windows 10? Because current ones on Page 1 still doesn’t work :frowning:

That’s why I added details for my card if any of those strings are missing in your driver edition on Page 1.

Thank you :slight_smile:

@Degman :
Are the USB 3.0 drivers you need for your add-on card different from those, which are offered by VIA for on-board USB 3.0 Controllers?
Which drivers are you currently using and which is the error message you get, when you try to use the generic MS in-box USB 3.0 drivers?

It seems that Delock card doesn’t differ than the one on the VIA page. (http://www.delock.de/produkte/G_89281/me…?setLanguage=en)
Cd that came with the add-on card has Via 4.40D drivers. Also downloaded other drivers from VIA pages (4.70C & 4.90A). Tried anything that I could find searching for “via vl800”. But all the time Windows 10 uses it’s own driver version: 10.0.16299.251 and says it determined that the best drivers are already installed for USB xHCI Compliant Host Controller.
I was even editing inf files ind system folder (can’t remember exactly which ones because it was two months ago) and the card was listed by it’s name in Devices manager list but the error was something about missing power scheme for the device… I gave up after two weeks and pulled out the card and deleted all the changes. Until tonight when I saw newer date on Page 1 here and tried again to see if it’ll work…

Here is part about error messages:
Problem code: 0000000A
Problem status: {Operation Failed}
The requested operation was unsuccessful.
Device status: This device cannot start. (Code 10)
{Operation Failed}
The requested operation was unsuccessful.

If any additional info is needed, I’ll paste it here :slight_smile:

This happens to all users with an on-board Intel USB 3.0/3.1 Controller as well, but they can use the generic Win10 in-box USB 3.0/3.1 drivers.
If you can use the generic MS USB 3.0 driver, why do you want to get a very old VIA driver dated February 2016 installed?

But with generic MS USB 3.0 driver, the card shows it doesn’t work with an exclamation sign in Device manager list and doesn’t react with any USB device plugged in… All other USB ports on motherboard work normally (https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-…aming-rev-10#ov)

and to mention, when I bought that card, it showed the same error and I returned it back to the store and exchnaged it for the same one they had in stock. When I pluged the 2nd one and saw the same thing, I knew the problem was not in hardware but driver/OS support (think)

Hi All,
I’m seeking some advise on whether I should be updating the drivers for my Intel eXtensible usb3 controller on a DZ77Sl-50K motherboard, whilst running Win10 64bit build 16299?
If it helps my hardwareID is: PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1E31&SUBSYS_20308086&REV_04 (Screenshot attached with driver version)

The reason for all this is that a Tobii EyeX (in-game eye tracking) that require USB3 explicitly is not being detected correctly, on there website they say there a known issue with Asmedia 3.0 & 3.1 controller, but nothing about a workaround, so my thinking is to updated the drivers, but the only place I can find any reliable information is here as Intel does not provide Win10 drivers.

So any advise you can offer would be appreciated.

Thanks.

@manc :
Welcome to the Win-RAID Forum!

Although the latest Intel USB 3.0 drivers natively do not support your on-board Intel 7-Series Chipset USB 3.0 Controller DEV_1E31, I have added the related HardwareIDs to the INF files of my mod+signed Intel USB 3.0 drivers v5.0.4.43.
So if you want, you can try them, but don’t forget to import the Win-RAID Certificate and to set a Restore Point before you start with the installation.

Good luck!
Dieter (alias Fernando)

I tried to find solution myself again since my last message here.
My motherboard already has vl805 chip on itself for USB 3.0 ports and they work as they should…

Since generic Win10 in-box USB 3.0 drivers doesn’t work for add-on card, and VIA doesn’t support vl800 for Windows 10, I removed all VIA drivers and tried to see if add-on 3.0 will work. Nope.

Then I tried to update drivers manually with Have disc…used VIA drivers from Page 1 here and got a switch from “USB xHCI Compliant Host Controller” to “VIA xHCI Compliant Host Controller” without an exclamation mark(This device cannot start. (Code 10)). But got another device “VIA USB 3 Root hub” with exclamation mark"This device cannot start. (Code 10); STATUS_DEVICE_POWER_FAILURE" and in Events->Information:Device USB\VIA_ROOT_HUB\5&6ddd906&1 was not migrated due to partial or ambiguous match.
Because of this “ambiguous match”, maybe two VIA chips together won’t work? (vl805 onboard and vl800 on add-on card).

After that I tried to change two parameters in BIOS, xHCI hand-off and EHCI hand-off to all 4 options, both disabled, both enabled, enabled-disabled, and disabled-enabled. With or without VIA drivers, and Have disc option. No changes.

If anybody has any idea what to do next, I’ll try it. Or if @Fernando can add Windows 10 x64 driver support for VIA 3.0 (dev_3483)? I’ll give my report here how it went, and finally use this card or throw it to the garbage :smiley:
