I managed to successfully install win7 from a usb stick with integrated drivers on MSI B550-A PRO, 5600x, nvme and MBR/CSM. I did not experience any BSOD’s but I had other situations like setup hanging on Starting Windows, nvme not recognized e.t.c. I don’t know if it works if you use UEFI, I didn’t try. Below is the method that worked for me
In BIOS all I had to do was enabling CSM, and choosing a correct boot option (not UEFI). Also updating the BIOS so it atleast sees my CPU. Running on AGESA 1.1.0.0 Patch C BIOS now
As for the win7 image I grabbed a MSDN win7 SP1 image and integrated drivers and SHA256 patch using NTLite from the first post of this thread. In NTLite I integrated drivers into all of the items (not sure if this is important): boot.wim (PE), boot.wim (Setup), winre.wim
Then I used rufus with MBR and BIOS (UEFI-CSM) options to prepare usb stick
Everything worked properly during installation: usb mouse and keyboard plugged into usb3.0+ ports worked and nvme recognized
After about 2 weeks of using the system I can say it’s stable and all USB ports work, no unknown devices in device manager
The only weird thing is that I don’t see the processor in device manager. But it doesn’t seem to influence any benchmarks or prevent any games from running so whatever
Hope this wall of text helps someone
Thanks canonkong for the drivers!
@Mr_Nobody
No, i dont have an 2nd Gen Ryzen to test.
As i wrote, with 3rd Gen ryzen and the older BIOS it was working, just with newer BIOS versions it does not work.
Maybe it would need a different patched acpi.sys
Hello, I have MSI B550 Gaming Plus, which is basically the same motherboard as yours. I have Ryzen 5600x and BIOS with AGESA 1.1.0.0 Patch C. With USB drivers from canonkong everything works fine, except no processors in the device manager. I couldn’t find anyone else with similar issue in the internet until now. Maybe AGESA 1.1.9.0 would help, didn’t check yet.
x399, x570 system should work without any acpi patches.
pls help me
i try install win7 on ssd nvme samsung pm981 but can’t not completed
Window crash in Starting Window and so many lag , pls help me
i’m using r5 2600 and b450 steel legend
@Cpt_Frank : You are wrong here, because with your Hardware you don´t need the drivers from Canonkong.
But here is the easiest way for yor:
-patch Win7 SP1 Iso with Asrock Win7UsbPatcher(v2.0.21_AM4) for USB3 Drivers
-Install the OS on HDD or AHCI SSD
-make the Windows Updates
-install AMD Chipset Drivers
-install KB2990941-v3 for NVME
-clone the drive to NVME
Please excuse me for asking a question on this thread.
I have copy of windows 7 that has all the latest drivers up untill September 2020.
I can use rufus to create a install stick and I can install 7,with a usb keyboard and mouse.
The problem is as soon as the 1st reboot happens it gets to the orbs and restarts,wont get past the orbs.
Does someone know what I can do to get past the orbs?
My system
Asrock x570 taichi
AMD 5800x
AMD 6800xt
Samsung 960Pro NVME 512gb
thank you very much @Mr_Nobody for the hint to Win7UsbPatcher(v2.0.21_AM4)
this version acutally allowed me to install the Windows 7 (had to make sure i was using a valid, good ISO) onto the AsRock DeskMini A300 also inspite of the A300 missing the PS/2 port;
That was a very good experience, and the A300 is fully Windows 7 now with the A10-9700 APU; maybe in the future in could upgrade to another APU but that might be more troublesome i suspect (due to the missing Graphics Driver=? for those APU on windows 7).
the only thing i had to enable in BIOS was to enable CSM mode, that i didn’t find out on earlier A300 builds, so please AsRock forgive for giving the blame on You.
A300 with A10-9700 APU, 16GB (singlechannel) 2666 Crucial RAM, 500 GB Ssmsung PM981 NVME, Noctua nh-l9a-am4, fully windows 7 64Bit Success here.
It is my understanding that you would need to enable in BIOS legacy/CSM compatibilty mode;
when i tried to use the patched USB Windows 7 installer on my Asrock A300, i would also not get past beyond the Windows 7 splashscreen.
Once enabled the CSM mode, the USB installer would fully load and the only thing i needed to do afterwards was to load manually the NVME driver before the Win7 installer could see the NVME disk.
If you don’t have integrated the NVME drivers already on your iso, you can find them here on this forum
Recommended AHCI/RAID and NVMe Drivers
The version of 7 that I have is a fully updated iso,so it has the usb3 drivers and microsoft nvme drivers as well,which is why I think I can install windows just using rufus and not needing the iso patchers.
I can install W7 but as soon as it does it’s 1st reboot it get stuck at the orbs.
I can’t remember but I think I tried with CSM disabled and enabled.
i am no expert in this but i would suggest you load the nvme driver from samsung manually from a usb stick during the installation procedure, because if you have a samsung nvme that will be the proper one you’d need i suppose.
@BMfan
I have an ASRock X570 Taichi too, but i cant even get Windows 7 to install. I get immediately on Setup loading screen a Bluescreen.
Which BIOS Version are you using?
I’m using 3,91.
I have to use the later ones because of my 5800x,I’m tempted to sell it and go back to a 3000 series.
I used W7 with this board and my 3700x,the 5800x is a really nice cpu except for the fact I’m forced to downgrade my OS.
I am using 3.91 too with my 5900X. But also with the 3700X i could not get Windows 7 to install with later BIOS, only with 3.00
I download an updated W7 ISO(all main updates till Sep 2020) from a torrent site and used my key to activate it when I had my 3700x,I was using bios version 2,80,only updated bios because I upgraded cpu.
@BMFan
I also tried a Windows 7 iso with updates till September 2020. But still, as soon as Windows Setup is loading i get a Bluescreen. But only with 64Bit Version. I also tested a 32Bit Version and it was working Fine

Maybe i sould test with only one SSD/HDD attached. Or even no Drive at all. Maybe theres some other Problem.
EDIT:
And if i replace the acpi.sys, setup is loading, but then hangs

I decided to try again.
Everything I tried had the same results,7 would install but as soon as I get to the orbs,it reboots.
I tried CSM disabled,enabled and updating every driver before the install and nothing helped.
I try and go back to latest 10 and I have issues.
Just after the 1st restart I get a message that there was an unexpected error and windows must restart,only way to fix was to make it into the registry
to edit it, then it will carry on installing.
I get into windows and my AMD GPU drivers wont install,they get to about 92% then the PC reboots and says no boot device found,tried 4 different ways to install.
After a few hours trying to get the latest manure to work and failing,I tried a cracked copy of LTSC I have.
Everything installed fine and the only plus with LTSC is that it is as close to 7 as I can get,for now.
@BMfan I think a really good thing about LTSC is that you don’t have version updates but ‘small’ updates.
Yeah and it feels snappier than the normal 10.
Win 10 can be snappy only on top hw.
