Now all you need is to use the mcode version mentioned above and it should bclk overclock for you!
Is there a guide on how to change the mcode? Can i use MMtool to delete one and insert the other?
I manage to delete the C2 and insert 74 mCode, but i can’t pass 102.5mhz. Could be BIOS version?
Is mcode 74 the one in use once in windows? Verify with AIDA64 or HWinfo. And yes, could always be BIOS version blocking too, try all same mods onto an older BIOS, early ones that next ones say you can’t flash back after update

Good, that means you changed it properly and windows has not over-ridden it yet. For the Bclk, yes try older BIOS or older ME, hopefully you’ll find one.
If you see BIOS version skipped in older updates, like only 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9 is there, but not 1,2 or 6, then try to find on web 1, 2 and 6 and try those.
So, i tried almost all BIOS from ASUS web site. This versions (0230, 1203, 1302, 1402, 1602, 1702, 1801, 1902, 2202) all originally came with ME 11.0.0.1168 none work with the mod. This versions (3007, 3301, 3801) originally came with ME 11.6.10.1196 but i downgrade to 11.0.0.1168 and they all work, but no BLCK OC. There something on old BIOS that don’t allow ME to be disable, i think.
I think ME disabled is going to disable your ability to overclock via Bclk since this is controlled via ME initially, correct? Why specifically do you have to disable ME vs use certain version ME like all the other posts in the main update thread? Due to Xeon only, I yes why?
Maybe time to sell the Xeon and purchase with those funds a CPU that will cause you less stress and hassles. Or maybe not Bclk overclock? Seems like a waste to chase this anyway for few MHz
Here, i think bclk is possible but only with external clock gen as i say on others posts. There are some BIOS that allow bclk oc but they didn’t work with ME disable. But there is something weird, i flash a specific BIOS version for blck oc with no mod for disable ME and that didn’t work too. I already put this board for sale, probably gonna put the Xeon too, thing is a got it for real cheap. I thought that it would work with bclk oc and make really good price/performance.
Wish it would work for you since it was a good deal. Maybe they changed something in the BIOS blocking that. So you test other non Xeon CPU and regular BIOS, that doesn’t need any mod for CPU, with blck overclock BIOS and it didn’t work either? If yes, then sounds like they block something in the BIOS stopping it
Yes, Asus z170-e with BIOS 0050 specifically to bclk oc, didn’t work. I almost giving up and let this go.

I read all this post searching info about mobo Asus Z170-E + xeon E3 1235L V5. could it work with bios mod? I dont need it for oc, but i want building a Hackintosh.
I think it works with stock BIOS, just no bclk, but you’d have to ask someone you saw in this thread or other threads with that board/CPU by using @therename.
If you don’t need OC, then I think all you need to do is make sure BIOS has CPU microcode you want (506E3), and it probably will work then, but it’s tough to say for sure with so many Xeon versions/types out there

I have ordered Xeon 1235L v5 - it will come soon. I have a lot of MB and advanced CH341A - can flash 1.8v chips. So we can try a lot.
