[BIOS] Flashing modded bios issue - Motile 14 - M141[BIOS]

@remembertellfriends I am getting pretty close to saying screw it and just run the original 8GB, I just though it would be a decent upgrade for couch browsing and just general use but the free performance gains the 8GB provides is hard to turn down.

If it is possible to boot the 16G at 3200 though I’d like to do it though, ha.

@pamplemousse5 Well, if you think about it anything above 2400 MHz is better than stock…

So The Motile BIOS does not have any of the voltages available that would directly affect the RAM, however Vdd sort of indirectly may get you what you need. The maximum the BIOS will let you set is +/- 100 mV. I tested it at +10 mV and… have no way to verify it did anything at all. The typical limit, looking at google results, seems to be 1.1V for Vdd. Maybe try +20 mV setting, then test your RAM again. It defaults to 0.90V so that would be 0.92V

So yeah, didn’t boot with +20 mV and loose timings on the 16GB stick. I had decided to just use the stock RAM, threw in your timings again, thought everything was fine but after doing my drive in circles test it is crashing. I might need to loosen up the timings some. If I can’t run the stock stick at 3200mt/s then i’ll probably end up going with the 16GB stick again. At times I was hitting close to a 20% increase in performance though so hopefully I can get something to stick.

@remembertellfriends - Thanks for the images, yes, very odd! But yeah like @pampelmousse5 said, only people who get unlocked BIOS will see this, hopefully they all find this thread and or know what that “h” means
You’re welcome!

Where are you seeing VccIO? Show me an image, what all voltage options do you have for memory in there?

For how to do this edit >> Please see this general Aptio V Guide at bottom of post #1, inside spoiler - OverPowered TONGFANG CyberPower Machrevo MACHENIKE - Unlocked BIOS Guide W/ Files
This is not exactly how you edit this BIOS, but it will give you the general idea of how to do what. This BIOS edit contains much less than that one explains, so it’s a bit easier
Here is my edit notes, use this in conjunction with the basics of the guide above, then you’ll know how to do this edit. If you need me to write out a step by step how-to that directly applies only to this edit let me know

For all other revealed settings that were hidden, in originally visible menus, you can use AMIBCP (5.02.0023 or 5.02.0031) and set Access Level to User for the hidden items
Or, how I do it >> You can make the change manually using AMITSE/SetupData edit example given below, see last part of post #4

@pamplemousse5
Auto on certain voltages may still = stock, so that may not be ideal for your CPU and this memory, hard to say, yes, it’s all about tinkering to find what works and then make it better/stable

Set XMP to enable 1.35v Memory voltage, if your memory has XMP profile, then all the following can affect memory possibilities (
Auto tFAW or tCL may be too tight (related/tied), causing failure at high clocks, check what they are with AIDA64 at highest clock you can run, then raise them manually for higher attempts, in case auto is leaving as-is.
tFAW CTRL will need enabled first before you can see BIOS set amount, but you should be able to see in AIDA64 at chipset area even without being able to see in BIOS.
tWRRD can limit things if set too low too, so loosen this as you try to push

PBS >> VDDP voltage + VDD18 voltage both affect memory OC, but this is not really what we’re looking for

Ohh, wow! I can’t even find normal dram voltage setting in this BIOS, let alone memory controller voltages

Thank you very much for BIOS mod , i already use it to overclock memory to 2667mhz 8gb, 14-16-16-38 CR1, Samsung chip , added 2fps on benchmarks;)

So microcode for Ryzen 7 3700U already in BIOS ? Or i need to inject it into BIOS? My BGA chip 3700U shipping to me, soon i will try to change Ryzen 3 to Ryzen 7, But i want to know does this bios has microcode to support it.
Also i want to upgrade thermal system with adding Heat Pipe and cooler, there is an empty space , very good for this mod.

Also, how to unlimit TDP for CPU ,to use it as much as possible in Turbo mode?

@shadowbars77 - You’re welcome! Some users already push to 3000-3200, I think some with stock memory too, so you can go higher speed too if you wanted, but would need loose timings.
Yes, both CPU’s you mentioned, microcode is already in the BIOS, but that does not always mean CPU is compatible.

Sorry, I don’t know about TDP/related settings Someone else will have to help advise you on that.

Dear @Lost_N_BIOS ,
Thank you so much for helping me before. The modified bios works very well for me. I especially like the memory overclocking function and the built-in graphic memory allocation function.
I’m sorry, but can I ask you one more request? I think my brother’s laptop will also need a modified BIOS. I will put a brother’s laptop backup bios here.
I am very helpful in your kind and prompt response.
P.S: It is regrettable that the fan speed control function in the modified BIOS does not seem to work.

M141_Brother_BACKUP.zip (4.64 MB)

@rookie0306 - You’re welcome, good to hear the mod BIOS is working well for you! Fan speed, you may need to control with software, this is often EC FW controlled.
Have others discussed this in this thread, or maybe on notebookreview forums, it’s possible they’ve found solution there?

WARNING: THE FOLLOWING POST WAS MADE BY A GUY WHO IGNORED SAFETY PRECAUTIONS. REPLICATE CONTENT OF POST AT OWN RISK!!!

Hey, @Lost_N_BIOS , you said not to change the graphics adapter setting, was it “Advanced/AMD PBS/Primary Video Adapter”? Because I switched it to “PEG” from “IGD”, and it didn’t seem to change anything at all… Granted I had an eGPU hooked up, and I haven’t tested it w/out the eGPU. “sudo xrandr --listproviders” had the same output when tried on an xubuntu 20.04 live USB.

@wishindo - Yes, that’s my MAIN warning to all unlocked BIOS laptop users, long before I added the voltage stuff. At least you still have display output!
Sounds like the setting you changed is not one that is actively being used. Did you check with graphics driver panel, GPU-z, or HWINFO64, etc to see which is main graphics adapter before/after?
So, I checked for you, and ones you need to watch out for (read >> DO NOT Change, unless you have programmer in hand and backup made)
CBS >> GFX Configuration >> Integrated Graphics Controller
PBS >> NVIDIA DGPU Power Enable (Disable integrated graphics, sounds like, but I am not sure, default disabled so maybe not this!)

This however, may need to be enabled for your test to work, I am not sure. And this should only be messed with if you have programmer, as it may or may not function on your system if board PCB is not designed for this functionality
PBS >> Special Display Features >> Disabled / HybridGraphics

Tread carefully my friend - Here there be monsters!

Hey sir I need one for my motile m142

@Trippybots - Please see “Annex” section of post #1 here to dump BIOS with flashrom, then send it to me - [Guide] How to flash a modded AMI UEFI BIOS

@Lost_N_BIOS Hello, I was wondering if you could unlock my bios, and what I need to do if you are willing to help me with this.
Sorry, I am very new to this

@modf - Merged your post to the main Motile thread - Please see post #132 right above your post, you have to do that and send me the file

@Lost_N_BIOS If you’re not too burned out on helping with these, I was hoping I could trouble you for another one. Thank you.

@DutchSchultz - Here you go - https://ufile.io/gdagq0bo

*** WARNING - To ANYONE with laptop and unlocked BIOS!!!
DO NOT try to enable this graphics card or disable that card, switch cards etc. Otherwise you will end up with no display output (ie black screen) and no way to recover except by blind flash or with flash programmer.
You can change graphics related settings, like changing memory sizes, or core speeds etc, just don’t try to disable one card or change which is main etc.

Additionally, be very careful when trying to undervolt CPU, you can leave BIOS unbootable due to CPU voltage too low (Sometimes even 0.05 is too much)

WARNING *** - This BIOS is user specific! If you are not user DutchSchultz at Win-RAID.com forum, DO NOT USE THIS BIOS!!
If you do, and you are not DutchSchultz, then you will loose your serial, UUID, OG NVRAM, and possibly LAN MAC ID as well.
You have been warned!!!

Thank you sir, very much appreciated.

@DutchSchultz - Anytime

Hello friends. I want to say that i have made my extreme crazy mod with reball of cpu, i have changed Ryzen 3 3200u to Ryzen 7 3700U on motile 14.
No needed to add microcode to bios. Ryzen 7 3700u working perfectly.

Now all is running good. I have more heat now, i think i will make some thermal mod for this configuration, i should add another copper heatsink to empty space of laptop.

So now i have 50fps on low preset at Fallout game.
Aida 64 in CPU Queen o have 44000. )Two time higher than ryzen 3) Fps grows almost twice
Cpu run up to 4ghz speed. I made some mod on TDP so i can say it can run with 1400mhz GPU but temperature is almost 80C ,its very hot.
Ram run at 3200mhz 8gb.

You can see photo before and after.

@shadowbars77 - Yes, I would add copper wherever you can extend it to, that will help, be sure to make good therm contact with original heatsink components so heat transfers to your new copper area well.
Good work, did you do the swap yourself?
